The nearest monument to our suites, is the Castello Visconteo <\/strong>(Visconti Castle)<\/em><\/strong>,<\/em><\/strong> a well preserved medieval complex of the 14th<\/sup> century, now the seat of the Musei Civici <\/strong>(Municipal Museums) <\/em><\/strong>of Pavia<\/strong>\u00a0and venue of important exhibitions, <\/strong>the dates of which you can consult \u00a0here<\/a><\/p>\n

Just two walking minutes away you encounter the great\u00a0Piazza della Vittoria <\/strong>(Victory Square)<\/em><\/strong>, with the broletto <\/strong>(municipal hall)<\/em><\/strong> and the Duomo <\/strong>(cathedral)<\/em><\/strong> of Pavia<\/strong>: one of the most important Renaissance buildings of our country. Not far from the Duomo, you can visit the remains of the Municipal Tower.<\/p>\n

Besides the Duomo, also the\u00a0basilica di San Pietro in Ciel d\u2019Oro (<\/strong>Basilica of St. Peter in golden sky)<\/em><\/strong>,<\/em><\/strong> of medieval origin is worth visiting.<\/p>\n

Another place worth visiting is the Ponte Coperto <\/strong>(Covered Bridge),<\/em><\/strong> which joins the<\/strong> old town centre with the <\/strong>Borgo Ticino:<\/strong>\u00a0a very characteristic fishermen village. The covered bridge is actually a reconstruction dating back to the post-war period.<\/p>\n

the Charterhouse of Pavia is a monumental complex of great historical and artistic value and of great national importance. It consists of a Monastery and a Sanctuary. It was probably once connected to the Castle of Pavia. It is situated in the municipality bearing the same name and it can be easily reached by train or by bus from the centre of Pavia.<\/p>\n
